Delete your account

Want a copy first? Settings > Your data > Download my data saves your account, profile, journal and other private state, messages you sent, and comments as one file. Deleting can't be undone.
Delete your whole account
You can do this yourself, any time, and it takes effect right away.
- Open MoNomo (the phone app, or monomoapp.com/app) and sign in.
- Open Settings (the gear at the top).
- Under Account, tap Delete account, type your password, and confirm.
Can't sign in? Email privacy@monomoapp.com from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We do it within 30 days and tell you when it's done.
What is deleted
- Your email, password, sign-ins, push tokens, and profile (photo, city, mission, everything you filled in). Your name becomes "Deleted member".
- Your private data backed up to your account: journal, settings, saved articles, badges
- The text and photos of your comments, and your public activity feed
- Your friendships, blocks, RSVPs, and group memberships
- Events and groups you created come down for everyone
What is kept, and for how long
- Messages: each message is one shared copy between you and the person you wrote to, so they keep their side of the conversation, shown as from "Deleted member". Nobody can message the deleted account.
- Anything under an open safety report (a reported comment, photo, or profile) is hidden from everyone and kept for the moderators until they close the report.
- A suspended account, or one under an open report, also keeps its display name and a keyed hash of its email (never the email itself), so a suspension can't be undone by deleting and signing up again. For a report, they go when the report closes; for a suspension, while it stands.
- Backups: the server keeps nightly backups for 7 days. Your data ages out of them within 7 days of deleting.
- Moderation records: reports you filed and moderator decisions are kept so we can keep the community safe. After deletion they are no longer linked to a name or profile.
- Copies on your devices: a phone or browser you used may still hold a local copy until you sign out or remove the app.
Delete some of your data, keep your account
- Profile: clear any field in You > Edit profile. To remove your profile photo, email us (a button for it is coming).
- Journal: delete any entry from the Journal.
- Comments: tap Delete on any comment you posted; a photo attached to it goes with it.
- Events and groups: delete events you made; end groups you lead.
- This device's copy: Settings > Erase this device's copy.
For anything else, email privacy@monomoapp.com and say what you want removed.
